Summary

Summary

Values are behaviours, actions and ways of living that when exercised, provide us with a sense of meaning in life. They are unique and free from external influence, which can at times make them hard to explicitly define to others. They can provide a sustainable sense of direction as they can often never be fully achieved or completed. They instead give us a direction that we want to head towards, not away from. And when followed, they can enhance our vitality, performance, motivation and well-being.

They can benefit us by fostering a sense of meaning and purpose, improving physical and psychological well-being, continued direction, sustainable behaviour change, providing a meaningful measure of progress for life, and by helping us create self-concordant, value-aligned goals.
